A breakthrough procedure to treat cellulite offered in San Francisco at the Appearance Care Center™.
Cellulite is a herniation or bulging of the fat around the thighs, buttocks and lower area of the body that creates an uneven or dimpled skin appearance. In between these little bulges of fat are fibrous bands that extend from the deeper tissues of the skin. These bands pull the skin down and create the dimpling or puckering look commonly associated with cellulite.
This condition is harmless, but it can create a surface area that resembles the skin of an orange or the lumpiness of cottage cheese that is distressing for those affected.
Cellfina is an FDA-approved minimally invasive procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least two years. This breakthrough device has refined the technique of subcision to treat cellulite and is slowly becoming the “go-to” procedure for treating cellulite.
Compared to previous cellulite treatment options, Cellfina produces a more consistent and uniform look.
Cellfina treats the connective bands woven throughout fat in the thighs and buttocks, the primary cause of cellulite. Cellfina employs a technique called subcision that works by going underneath the skin with a needle-sized instrument (microblade) and dividing the little fiber bands that hold the skin down. Releasing the tension from the fibrous bands allows the skin to naturally smooth itself out. Cellfina can be done on an outpatient basis without general anesthesia, and it is a relatively minor procedure.
One Cellfina treatment generally lasts about 45 minutes, which is all it takes to see an improvement in the appearance of your cellulite. If you have a large number of cellulite dimples, treatment may take longer, as about 25 dimples can be treated per hour.
There is minimal downtime with Cellfina, and you can drive yourself home after the procedure. You may want to take it easy for a day or two, and then you will probably feel up to resuming everyday activities. Some patients experience soreness and tenderness, which will improve with time over the next week or two. Bruising may also develop and take two to three weeks to resolve.
You should avoid taking a bath and sitting in a hot tub for about a week after treatment. Do not tan (whether in the sun or tanning beds) for at least two weeks after Cellfina.
Your resulting smoother skin surface and improved appearance can be seen in just a few days after Cellfina treatment. Your full results may take up to a month to become apparent.
Cellfina is clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least two years, which is the longest duration of any cellulite treatment cleared by the FDA. Some patients experience results that last for three years.
The average cost of a Cellfina treatment is $4,250, but you can expect the price to range anywhere from $3,500 to $6,500. The cost of your procedure will depend on the number of dimples you would like treated, the size of your treatment area, your provider’s geographical location and several other factors.
At your consultation, we can determine the specific cost of your Cellfina treatment.
Cellfina can target cellulite on the thighs, buttocks, hips and nearly any other area affected by cellulite skin dimpling. Other less common but possible treatment areas include the arms, inner knees, abdomen and flanks.
If you are between the ages of 20 and 60 and have maintained a stable weight for at least six months, you may be a candidate for Cellfina. Patients should be generally healthy and have realistic expectations of what this procedure can achieve. Ideal candidates for Cellfina have good skin elasticity in the target area, as loose skin may worsen after treatment.
You should not undergo Cellfina if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant in the near future. Patients should not have tumors or varicose veins in the treatment area, uncontrolled high blood pressure or a bleeding disorder. Talk to your plastic surgeon during your consultation about any medical conditions you have to make sure Cellfina is safe for you.
No. In most cases, patients experience ideal results after only one treatment.
Cellfina is a relatively painless minimally invasive procedure. Before treatment begins, a local anesthetic in the form of a tumescent solution (a mixture of lidocaine, epinephrine and sodium bicarbonate in saline) is injected into the target areas to keep you comfortable. The needle-sized device used to treat the cellulite-causing bands just beneath the surface of the skin is very small, and most patients report that treatment is very comfortable.
Because a fine needle is used for targeting each cellulite dimple during Cellfina treatment, most patients do not develop any scarring.
While Cellfina can improve the surface smoothness of the skin, it cannot tighten the skin to address laxity. If you have loose skin you would like addressed, consider a procedure like Ultherapy for skin tightening.
Cellfina is an excellent procedure for combining with other treatments to achieve comprehensive rejuvenation and contouring in the target area. You may wish to undergo CoolTone for building muscle, CoolSculpting for reducing fat or another non-surgical cosmetic treatment like dermal fillers with Cellfina.
During your personalized consultation, we can assess your condition and listen to your goals to determine the best procedures to meet your needs.
