As our bodies go through the natural aging process, certain functions begin to break down and weaken. Some functions are more obvious than others — you probably wouldn’t notice if your bladder was working much harder in your early 30s than it was in your 20s, but you would notice if you woke up one morning and had developed extremely wrinkled skin.

We can’t control these functions, and, unfortunately, the functions that we notice the most are often the first to begin developing. Frown lines are an example of that dilemma. As we move past the age of 20, it is estimated that we lose a total of 1% of our body’s natural collagen production every year. Similar statements can be said of different essential proteins like elastin and other healing factors.

Without cosmetic treatment or surgery, there is no way to correct these concerns once they develop. There is also no way to stop them from happening in the first place. We may take some precautions, but eventually, the aging process and genetics come for us all. We need Jeuveau because reliable treatments that provide comparable results and safety are few and far between.

Corey S. Maas MD, Medical Director of The Appearance Care Center, was one of the investigators in the clinical research trials for Jeuveau. The trials involved more than 2100 patients globally, including two US Phase III trials, and European and Canadian Phase III trials versus the market leader Botox.

If you are looking to improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, then you are likely going to be a candidate for this procedure since there are very few limitations placed on who can have Jeuveau treatment.

Only a few rare medical or cosmetic conditions can prevent or risk your candidacy, but our team will work with you to figure out an alternative or safe approach to your treatment if you are not a candidate.

The differences between the various products are subtle, and mostly a matter of personal preference. An in-person consultation at the Appearance Care Center will give us the opportunity to learn more about your individual needs, and then recommend the best product for you.

Like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, Jeuveau is also measured in units. One unit of Jeuveau is comparable to a unit of Botox and presents a similar outcome.

As a noninvasive treatment, you don’t need to worry about extensive preparations. We do ask that you refrain from excessive sun exposure, heavy alcohol consumption, smoking or drug use prior to having your procedure performed since any of these things can harm your healing process.

Prior to having your procedure performed, all patients go through an initial consultation. During this meeting, one of our expert medical professionals will assess your conditions and let you know if the results you are hoping to achieve fit what Jeuveau can provide. If the two do not align, then we will work with you to develop a treatment plan that can achieve your goals.

We only ask that you do an ample amount of research, look at before and after photos and read patient experience reviews to understand what you should expect from the outcome. If you come into the process with unrealistic expectations, you are setting yourself up to be disappointed by what anyone else would consider a highly successful procedure.

The process is extremely straightforward and is completed in only a few short steps:

1. Your face is cleaned to help prevent infection and a numbing agent is applied (if necessary) to mitigate potential discomfort
2. Jeuveau is delivered straight into highly targeted muscles in the face, preventing frown lines from developing
3. After the injection, your face is cleaned again and you are sent on your way allowed to leave in order to begin a very light recovery process

The average patient will see 3 to 6 months of rejuvenation results before requiring a follow-up Jeuveau treatment. The length of time between treatments will also be related to the number of units administered at the previous appointment, which significantly contributes to the longevity of the patient’s results. Many patients are interested in reducing the number of anti-wrinkle treatments to 1-2 times per year, and by adjusting the number of units, this is often possible.
